Classification-1: According to Distance from a CPU:

i/  Internal Memory  example: RAM, ROM

ii/ External Memory Example: HD, CD, DVD, Pen drive etc.

Classification-2: According to Importance:

i/ Primary Memory Or Main Memory, example: RAM, ROM

ii/Secondary Memory Or Auxiliary Memory, Example: HD, CD, DVD, Pen drive etc.

Classification-3: According to Permanence of Storage or Volatility:

i/ Volatile Memory, example: RAM

ii/ Non-volatile Memory, Example: HD, CD, DVD, Pen drive, ROM etc.

Classification-4: According to Manufacturing Substance or Read-Write Mechanism:
